Track of the week

Random picks from my all-time favourite tracks, coming out on Saturdays.

Track of the week: “Plasma”

This track is easily one of my all-time favourites records of the late 90’s. Such an incredible energy and acid lines, I remember raving at this tune was insane. Surprisingly, not many people aware of it even among old Goa Trance fans, so hopefully this will shed some light.

Artist Radiotrance
Title Plasma (Original Mix)
Release The Russian E.P.
Label Transient Records
Year 1997

P.S. Listen also to Plasma (Unreleased Breaks Mix) in my Summer Solstice Mix at 17:30.

P.P.S. Watch also official video clip that has been broadcasted on a national TV in 97, filmed at abandoned atomic reactor. I doubt you’ll see anything like that in today’s television.

Track of the week: “Salvation Slumberland”

Whirloop is one of those artists whose music doesn’t fit any particular subgenre’s standard, it’s a musical journey that flows in a beautiful and unpredictable way. Such a shame Whirloop no longer in business, I would keen to hear more from him.

Track of the week: “The Prophecy”

Today’s track of the week is the ultimate classic, one of my all-time favourite track from Astral Projection. Released in 2006, this track sounds fresh even today.

Track of the week: “Afro Samurai”

This track is weird. It doesn’t have a regular Psytrance bassline nor crazy-modulated leads, yet it has some hypnotic and unique feeling that attract my ears.

Track of the week: “Monstrum”

Love the mechanical feeling in this track. These hats, snares, acid bleeps, and sidechained pads in particular are so good!

Track of the week: “Tik Tok”

John 00 Fleming is no doubt one of my favourites artists and a big inspiration to me. It hard to pick just one of his tracks, but for today’s track of the week I’d like to play “Tik Tok” — a gorgeous, hypnotic crossover between Techno and Psytrance. At 6:42, the main theme turns almost into Goa Trance, loving it.

Track of the week: “Shiva Sunrise” (Djantrix Remix)

Laughing Buddha is a master of Psychedelic sound, but things get even better when Djantrix is on the remix duty. This is the kind of uptempo Psytrance I like a lot for its crazy energy, cutting edge sound design, and melodic components. And of course, uncompromising quality, as always from Digital Om Productions.

Track of the week: “Systematic Numbers”

Mindwave style has also been slightly different from the mainstream Progressive Psy. I like his deep, hypnotic, yet melodic music, and “Systematic Numbers” is one of these tracks. I also like the length of this track allowing to slowly build up the atmosphere.

Track of the week: “Papua New Guinea” (Satoshi Tomiie Main Path)

A stunning deep remix to the classic track by a Japanese producer, loving it. I think it sums what a proper Progressive Trance music should be like.

Track of the week: “Ground Tracer”

Here is another crossover between Psytrance and Techno worlds. Dalibor Delic and Nikola Kozic aka Ectima masterfully crafted percussions and hypnotic atmosphere in this track, I love it.

I also recommend checking out their entire album “The Clash Of Civilization” if you haven’t heard it yet, it’s totally badass. I’m sure we’ll see more of Ectima in this blog in the future.
